There's a whole ship load of debate about function.

"I" believe that a linear damper is a better unit than a radial damper, like a Scotts.
Basic physics will support that. (Google; Linear vs Radial dampers)

But, for my riding style either would be sufficient.
Personally, I like the "mechanical look" of the engineering of the linear damper.
Pricing is about the same. Both work very well.

Bottom line...
...it's the look.
