I'm surprised that nothing is mentioned, in the comments, about oil placed in the apex of corners. Yet, there is a ton of anti-sportbike comments.

It is really sad ... and it doesn't take an unlawful speed to get into trouble. Many things happen that can cause a problem. Prayers to both of them and their families.

And CB, where did you hear about oil placed at the apex? In my opinion, that's a crime.

Damn that sucks! Yeah the locals like to put rocks out on the corners too! There are no driveways going up the mountain, so why anybody would care is beyond Lamb

It happens for time to time on Palomar.  Some a$$hat is trying to crash bikes.  And yes if he's ever caught it should be for attempted murder!

The oil on the pavement is a common practice at Deals Gap as well. I have seem many an oil slick and even witnessed 1st hand a good friend hit one and go sliding across the road.

If I ever catch someone pouring oil on the road, it will not be pretty.

I have never been to Palomar, but I have hear it is one of the best roads in the US to ride a sportbike on.

Prayers sent for the fallen riders family and for the one injured.
