And what is the deal with State Troopers in VA anyway? I just drove to Denver and back last month and passed only one State Trooper in Kansas...hit the VA line from West Virginia on 64, and they were swarming around every turn! They're certainly presenting themselves in this state! Ughhhh...

Its true what you say about swarming.  He said within minutes of being handcuffed and put in the back seat.  6 more troopers pulled up behind.  They were ready for a high speed chase!

ps. He definiately could have used a trunk monkey!!

Va troopers have a open door policy.

If they open the door, your getting a ticket.

Oh, and watch your speed on rt.250 near Montery up in the mountains. The local farmers up there cut out sections of the forest on their land just so the troopers can hide better.
That's where i got my reckless last Oct, on a passing straight. The only time i sped the whole day,DOH!

Doesn't seem there are more troopers out this year than before?

...How can he get it thrown out (best case scenario_ or at least keep his license and no major points or violation...
I got an 86/55 (mandatory reckless) last year. Your opportunity for bumping the ticket is slim to none. CA has more latitude because of the "speed of traffic" stuff that everyone talks about, but VA doesn't have that.

He's lucky he didn't need bail money. Speeding/reckless isn't so bad (4pts in VA) -- depends on your insurance provider. Tell him to take it like a man. The trooper will show on the appointed date, BTW, and his radar gun was properly calibrated (if he gets out of the ticket I will personally kick his ass

Think VA is bad? Try NJ.

If so hire an attorney and pay the attorney what its worth! Eat it and suffer. Chances are an attorney will get you some kind of reduction.

If there are no priors then go to court plead guilty with an explanation, be nice and chances are the judge will reduce it to 64 which may mean it may not be reported to the insurance company.

Check the cost for an attorney versus the increase of insurance premiums and decide which route is best.
