I figured I would create this thread under track & racing mod since it's biggest design improvement is racing related.

This cover allows you direct acces to hookup a starter to the crank. The cover in the middle has a good solid o-ring seal so you don't have to worry about leaks. The machine work of this stator cover was spot on. Notice how the head of the allen bolts only protrude 1mm above the surface of the counter sunk bolt hole. It's a beefy cover so a tipover isn't going to crack or breakthrough the cover.

Since it's winter time I figured I would paint it first.

Nice quality looking cover.
Is this another one off? If not...who's the manufacturer & do you have a link?

it's a future thing. There's a few different routes I could go. Loose the stator and starter motor to reduce weight. Another option is to loose the starter and run a much smaller battery to reduce weight. The other benefit is that it makes it very easy to manualy crank over the engine.

Would that be a drag or road course race app? I have seen a bunch at the drag strip...I am not that familiar with road courses...I would just hate to lose because I don't have a starter on board.

I would say it's more of a drag racing application. Alot would be dependant on the rules as well. Some classes/events may require an on-board starter.

Nice looking cover...been talking Kevin into keeping his starter, but this would give you either/or option right~?~
