Well I screwed the pooch.

After going to the track with Twotonevert to watch Steve / Ward and Tyler ride I got the Bug.

My neighbor has a 93 ZX11 sitting under a carport, I have heard it start up a couple times and watched it go down the street, Last time he was pushing it back with a pretty good size gas leak, Just parked it and left it, He told me it had a problem keeping the battery up.

He offered to sell it to me for $1500 last year.

After going to the track I went over to his place and offered him $800 for it, He said to let him think about it, I told him I would bring him to the track to watch it run.

2 days later he yelled across the yard, If you want it, its yours. That same day I found out I was loosing $400.00 a month of my income so I had to re-figure could I afford it.

He was gone all weekend, The wife told me to just get it. I yelled across the yard are you ready to get that out of your yard, His responce, you should have taken advantage of me when you had the chance, Said a freind told him that was way way too cheap.

NEVER PUT OFF UNTIL TOMORROW WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY.

P.S. Just sold a '96 ZX-11 myself...would have wanted to keep it but it had to go to make room for the Busa.

If you had his other friends would have him convinced by now you 'stole' it from him and it may have wound up costing you more than just a miss opp.
If he had and then next day came back saying he made a mistake would you have given it back or smiled ?
Let him think a little more on it to be sure.
That $800 will start to spend itself in his mind and he'll be back over...

I agree with Blanca, his friend dont pay the bills. From you told me, it is only worth 800. Pristine bike with no defects, maybe 1500. Sorry you didnt get it bro. But then again, he made the deal, word of mouth. Maybe you didnt shake hands, but you made an offer and he accepted.

I would have let him have it back, Wouldnt want him to think I took advantage of him.

I don't know if it was a bad thing or not, usually when you see him pushing it home, that is going to be about par for what you can expect.

I know it would be a track bike, but what is the difference between pushing it up the road as opposed to pushing it back to the pits ???
