Hey guys, anyone ever have nay problems with the installation of the Micron system on the Busa. I haven't installed the PCIIIr yet, but there appears to be a lot of backfire once I let the throttle go. Will the PC cure this, or is the pipe too loose or something?

First question is... "Did you pull the pair valve off?" If not, that will be your primary cause. Secondly, you will have to have it re-mapped once you go with the full system. I just recently installed a new full Micron exhaust on mine and played with a couple maps on my PCIIIr. It's just temporary until I can get to Austin and let Johnnycheese tune and custom map it for me. Right now, that damn thing accelerates like a bat outta hell. The difference from bolt-ons to a full system is definitely noticeable. I'm very happy with the exhaust so far, but once it's tuned right, my bike should be pulling some good dyno numbers. I've done the airbox mod also, so I'm hoping for something in the 170 rwhp range. There are a lot of factors that play into this, but I'm hoping for the best.

Thanks, Brian. Regarding the pair valve, my question is do all busa's have it, or is it just California models? If I do have it, where is it, because I'll pull it in a second.

I too received some maps from Micron, but I figured that the dynojet disc had the same map since Dynojet supposedly made the map for Micron.

I have full system installed by previous owner. Also have TRE, and PC2. I believe map is by Dynojet for this pipe. Silky, and smooth. No backfire.

If PAIR removed and it backfires, try putting it back. If PAIR is there and it backfires, then I don't know.

Just re-read your post again, and realized you don't have PC yet. Install it, and it will make a huge difference!

The PCIIIr is in, mapped and feels great. There is still some backfire on occassion, so I know its due to the pair valve. Once I get some block off plates, I'll do the pair valve mod.

Regarding this mod, does it enhance performance as well, or does it just eliminate the backfire?

Hey bacharles, Just picked my bike up today (03 anniversary) from the local tuner. Had the full race Micron anniversary copper can installed, pcIII, K&N filter, pair valve removed. Stock dyno'd at 153rwhp, after custom map, only got 163rwhp. I'll be interested in hearing you numbers when your done. I've read you can expect about a 12 HP gain, so I was hoping for 165. Oh........she actually lost 2 HP with the TRE installed....

I've done the air box mod also, and I think that's good for another 2 to 3 hp. With the pair valve removed and the full Micron exhaust, I'm definitely praying for at least 170 rwhp. This is all after the custom map mind you. If I can pull 170rwhp, I'll be happier than a fag with a bag of d*&ks.

Now that your exhaust is installed, the pair valve will be a lot more work. To fully remove the pair valve, you will have to remove your exhaust again from the headers. You can definitely remove all the bolts from the pair valve while exhaust is still mounted, but I'm not sure if it will slide through the space between your header downpipes and the engine. It would definitely be a knucklebuster though. I think that you ought to just drop the whole exhaust, then it's a piece of cake.
