My bike feels like it's starting to get jumpy, at first I thought it was a map issue, but I think it's getting worse ?

What happens when your chain is too loose ?

Will it cause it to jump ?

You could always adjust the chain and see if that solves the problem.

How much play should there actually be in the chain? I know they stretch but didn't know how early it started.

for the pivoting of the swing arm, there needs to be SOME play going on. The manual tells you how much, I forget. it should be noticably loose, but not slap-happy loose - if that helps

05busale adjusted mine twice in the first 3000 miles but the chain settled in after that.

When you push up on the chain midway from the front sprocket , you should be able to push up about 3/4 ". If your bike is jumpy, you may have tight spots in your chain, or it just needs to be cleaned and lubricated. How many miles on your chain?

Also, be sure to raise the rear end and check for stretching. If it's out of spec, replace the chain AND sprockets.

The manual states .8" to 1.2" of slack midway between the sprockets in neutral on the kickstand.

Chains stretch a lot in the beginning.

Manual says only 1/2" either way with the bike on the ground, but that is still too tight according to every mechanic I have talked to.

Best way is to have a buddy sit on the bike while adjusting to get the same setting it will be in when you are riding.

All good points and check the sprockets for missing damaged teeth.

I paid a guy at the track to set up my suspension, he stated that the chain was to tight too... he also used to have a busa and stated that the chain needs to be pretty loose and what the manual states is way too tight.

7000 miles, you better check/change the cush rubbers. It WILL make a difference.

I do mine once a season. Your chain might need adjusted, but a guarantee the rubbers will make a difference. I think there like 30 bucks a set. Lube them up with wd40 when you put them in or you will never get the hub back on the wheel!
