There are a few things...
1. You can like or share a thread, post or item from the site right to your facebook page.
2. You can use single sign on meaning that if you have a FB account already we have an API or code with Facebook so you can signup to the org with your FB account now...
3. It keeps the community together meaning that you can still have FB but share a few things you like from here over on FB and people will link back and have deep discussions here and short one liners over there...
