Once you have the spanner nuts backed all the way down...make shure the spring feel loose on the shock...5-10mm play...from what I remember. Inside the spring in the shaft / piston is a rubber stopper....slide it down...then you can seperate the top large ring / cup with the one it comes in contact with. The top one that retains the spring has a notch in it the will allow you to simply slide it sideways off the shock. Then you lift the spring off the shock.
I can't find it, but there is a youtube video of this very step...that is where I got the info and it took 2 minutes to remove.
