Would think the HID would be a safety issue. So I would do it first, then the 2nd fan.

if nothing else wire up the single fan to a relay and toggle switch to come on when the bike is at temp or when you want it to.

relay AND toggle switch or just a switch? I was thinkin of just puttin the fan on a switch for the time being, then when i get the 2nd fan just tie that into the switch for the first fan

Running a relay will keep high current from going through the switch. That way all you will need is a small signal current to turn the relay on as it is nothing more then a elec swithc in its self.

What you want to do is put the relay in between the temp switch of the bike and the fan. This will allow the fan to come on when the bike gets to temp, but will also allow you to turn the fan on via handel bar micro switch if you feel the bike is to hot..

I would say what ever amp the fan is would be a good idea to match the relay to it.. Good thing about putting a replay instead of just a switch is you dont have a high current load going through the switch.. the way it would wire would be simple..

Pretty much like this

12 volt in to relay ( from power source)

12 volt out from relay ( to fan or what ever your trying to power)

ground for relay ( from relay to ground)

switched side ( power lead from toggle switch to relay) ( what tunes the relay on and off)

on the switch you will need

power in ( from source voltage)
power out ( to relay)
and ground ( switch to ground)

Dont forget your fuses on all the hot wires.. They are there to keep the wire safe.

oh and you can pick up a relay at any auto parts store for 5 dollars or less.. As for a switch i recomend a good quality water proof one.

My bike is 5 years old, never needed another fan. HID's are a must though
