TallTom, If you want to be conservative about it. The constitution says explicitly to support the general health and welfare for the population. At the time remember, plagues were the weapons of mass destruction. The founders were weary about too much military. Eisenhower even warned of a military industrial complex.
It's not like nobody saw this coming.....

As long as those entitlements include ones extended to corporations, absolutely. Corporate welfare costs this country far more than individual welfare.
I'm sure you know that wasn't the entitlements referred to. Nice try though.

The defense budget is a huge entitlement program. It could be cut in half and the US would still be the globally dominant military force it has become.

I said include. That means all of them, not just the ones Republican don't like.
For example cutting the Farm Bill wouldn't play well in the Republican base, but the fact is that it is an entitlement program.

Bottom line, a business man, not a politician, is running the country like a business, as it should be done, and he's had alot of sucess doing so.
He would have had alot more by now if not for the bs Muller investigation, which has proven there was No Collusion.
Trump is draining the swamp, and That Is The Problem. The Politicians handouts and free ride are in jeopardy, and they don't like it, so they'll stop at nothing to stop him.
Lies and the blame game.
Everything, everything, Trump said about a wall in the SOTU was and is true.
Guess what? San Diego is now sueing the federal govt for Releasing too many assylum seekers/migrants, as they are over running SoCal.
Really? Wtf?
Make up your minds Libtards.
You want everyone to walk in freely and live in your sanctuary cities, but once it's too many, it's Trump's fault again.
Trump is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't by the left. The man isn't perfect, but he's like alot of us...tired of seeing America sold out to the rest of the world!
Tired of seeing 40% of Citizens pay taxes on 100% of citizens...plus All the illegals.
Illegals who are Bankrupting our healthcare and overrunning our prisons. So much so that they can rape and murder, and get released to do it again, with no real consequences. Lesser offenses get Citizens decades to life in prison!
Enough is enough.
Then Idiots, yes idiots(educated or not)like AOC tout this wonderful new green deal...and give it a 10 year time table!!!
Do you not think there's some pork in there to make the powers that be more money?!
Of course! Gotta love Pelosi's famous line" We have to pass the bill to see what's in it".
Hmmmm, I thought it was lawmakers jobs to see what a bill was about, then vote on it, silly me.
The PC culture in America is utter hypocrisy too. That muslim bitch Taliff supports Hamas, is like Omar hating Jews, and have no place in our gov't. Yet a white female lawmaker in Florida calls her dangerous for her veiws and connections, and says she's an ideal candidate to martar herself and blow up congress(for which she checks all the boxes), and That comment is the one causing outrage!? Again, Wtf?!
The Republicans are far from perfect, but the Democrats, socialists, and libtards Are ruining this country! They are Not the blue collar democrats of yesteryear. They are group of BS'ers that Still enslave blacks and minorities with their promises of handouts.
Oh, and NY's own AOC just accomplished Her goal...Amazon is pulling out of it's deal of it's new headquarters in NY.
Bye bye jobs and state revenue.
I thought it was a congressman's job To Bring Jobs to their states??
I guess she's Not that smart.
Was Amazon going to get kickbacks and tax breaks, and an amount that seemed unfair?
Maybe. But yes or no regardless...the state And more importantly the people, Needed the Biggest Company in the World.
Not now. Lmao!
Wake up America!
Capitalism works, the swamp needs drained, and the wannabe socialists and America haters need to leave the country, try moving to Venezuela...or anywhere for that matter.

There's that 5% disagreement again six....there's quite a bit of conjecture and misinformation in that post.
However, as usual, we agree on a lot.

Care to elaborate?
A government shouldn't be run like a business, they have different goals. A company doesn't need to cater to all consumers, but a government has to serve all constituents. While a government shouldn't run on a deficit, it doesn't need to generate positive revenue.
There is little evidence that Trump has actually accomplished very much besides the Supreme Court seats being filled, and that was more McConnell's doing.
Make no mistake, Trump is no more interested in improving the life of the average American than he is the man in the moon. He's a fraud (self-made my a$$), an artificial creation in a time where that is what plays in the public domain. I've said it before, he's not the problem, he's a symptom. And the fact that people are willing to defend him, or his equivalent AOC just shows how deep the problem goes.
A wall doesn't solve the border problem. There are policies which will tighten up the southern border, but a wall isn't one of them.
If you're tired of carrying the tax burden, how about electing candidates that will make the top tiers of society carry their share? During the "golden age" what was the marginal tax rate? Blaming the poor for not paying enough in taxes is ridiculous. Even 85% of nothing is still nothing.
Where does the government spend the most money? Obviously that is where the trimming should begin. When I went back to school, we did away with DirecTV ($250/month) and replaced it with Hulu ($50/month). We didn't stop taking showers to save on the water bill.......Sensible cuts in spending coupled with sensible increases in revenue is the only way forward.
Crime rates are lower within first generation immigrant populations. Immigrants aren't causing the problems in the justice system, drug crime is.
PC culture is ridiculous, you and I have already covered this and are in agreement.
The system in place here is capitalist in name only. It advantages the rich over everyone else, and that needs to change. I'm disgusted with the lot of them (lawmakers) their party affiliation makes no difference.

Getting out of NATO and Syria helps. Pulling out of S. Korea would help. I don't think we need a fleet of F35s. A few new modern ICBMs should be a nice deterrent to take their place more cheaply.

Certainly worked before.

Oh wait............3 of those are in work.

No, a govt does not need to make money like a business. But, it does need to manage it responsibly like any sucessful business.
I disagree on the wall.
Wall's work.
A wall between ports of entry, with cameras and sensors to detect people, makes a huge difference.
And requires far less man power, which there isn't enough of now without a wall.
San Diego's new lawsuit should fly in the face of every arguement against a wall.
Too many illegals in SoCal now...and it's Trump's fault! Lmao!
Sounds like a border crisis to me.
We'll just have to agree to disagree.
But, ultimately, if you and I stood across the fence from one another in DC, brought our bills to the table, we could agree on 95%, and compromise on the rest.
Then, the "powers that be", big money donors behind the scenes, would slap the back's of our hands, tell us what we really allowed to do, then sit back and watch the political drama continue.
It all comes down to greed, for money and power.
That is for certain, and that greed will remain as long as humans exhist.

Not sure that getting out of NATO helps with safety, certainly financially. Leaving Syria? Yes. South Korea? Keeping China physically in check with a military presence promotes stability in the region. North Korea would swallow it a week after the last troops left.

six.... I don't think modern democrats want to admit how certain policies and beliefs are going to affect us in the long run. I look at my own workplace..... and there are 100 people on workmans comp..... 100..... and im not even going to say how many work there... just know this, its a double digits percentage... yes... workmans comp is a NICE thing to have.. BUT... abuse of the system is embarrassing, and its a state run program.. very liberal.... it RELIES on honesty and goodwill.... guess what though...………………. guess what values are lacking in society in GENERAL....

Income is only one way the top tier is advantaged. As you said, wealth is different. That chart is misleading....

The idea that a program should be stopped because people abuse it is less logical than stopping the abuse of the system. If an inmate hurts you while you're at work, you should have compensation.....
