There is a FREE 411/information number you can call to obtain phone numbers. I got it from USAA magazine. It will go towards your minutes if you use your cell phone.
It's (800) FREE-411.

They say you may have to listen to an advertisement before getting your number but it beats paying a $1.50 per call with your carrier. I've called 3 times and have yet to listen to an advertisement, however.
 
In case there are any skeptics, this was published in USAA's Summer 2006 edition.  Many here, especially those with military ties, are familiar with USAA.  It is a reputable source.

Yeah but I've called 3 times and never received one audio ad. They even have live operators to talk to if there is difficulty with the automated system.

The USAA article sdaid you MAY have to listen to a quick ad.

For $1.50 per call for normal 411 I'll use it until proves itself worthless.
