The fuel tank capacity is 5.5 U.S. gallons and unless you're heavy on the throttle you should be getting at least 40 mpg. I'm running a Brocks' ShortMeg with his generic map and get right at 40 mpg to and from work and riding around town and 42-44 cruising on the freeway at 75-85 mph. The low fuel light typically comes on around 175-180 miles and will take 4.4 to 4.5 gallons to refill at that point so you're looking at a realistic range of 200 miles. I'd guess your dealer didn't have your tank topped off.

Glad to hear that you're having fun Nick. You may or may not be aware of this, but your clutch/throttle coordination will be a lot smoother if you adjust out all that throttle slack so that you'll get instant response when you twist it. The first thing I and many others do after getting a new bike is to adjust out that factory set throttle slop. (Push that little rubber boot up and off the wheel adjuster and turn it OUT a couple of times and try it. Make sure to turn your bars full left and right at idle to make sure there is no change in idle speed before settling on a final adjustment).

Thanks CCbusa05 for the help; I'll definitely check into this and see if it helps any. I did adjust the clutch handle position using the dial as another member suggested and that did help a little.
