Duc's are worse. They self-retract, and are so small its tough to put them down. I almost never used the sidestand on the thing.

'lantabusa. I simulated 3" lowering by putting a 3" block under the sidestand pad. Bike was totally unstable - couldn't let go of it. I then tried a 2 1/2" block and the bike was ok as long as the bars were cranked over hard left. The mod did inhibit retraction.

I'd say that the lowered bikes are a whole different ball game because they're so close to vertical when on the stand. The mod will help some.

Jeff

This is why I'm trying to get a fair idea of how many have actually dropped their Busas

It is not normal

Just look at the thread
"Has yours fallen off the side stand"
See how many well experienced riders are having to fork out to buy new Suzuki panels..........

Lanta... 2 things, cut your side stand down to make it lean over more, or bend it outward....

I would try the 1st one...

So can someone tell me how Jeff's bike fell off the stand when it was in gear? I assume the side stand was all the way forward. Thanks for your reply Sherm. I think I get it now.

forget the valentine as my first mod..i'm doing this sidestand fix As soon as friggin possible! I leave it in gear all the time and the only places i park it at is my garage,my fav sunoco station (with level ground of course) and my buds house (also with level ground). But going by murphy's law, i'm taking action. Besides this and the fuel hoses, The Footpegs are a hazard as well. I can't count how many times i went to shift or brake and the pegs decided to "Stick" to my boots. Real fun when coming up on a corner at good speed. What the heck was suzuki thinking when they put these John Deere Designed things on?? God they're about as Farm as the Day is long. I'll manage till i can find a crunched 750 or 600 to cannibolize off..hehheh

Just file (or grind) down the contact area on the stand where it hits the forward stops. There are two stops, one on the outside and one on the inside. Don't file the stops themselves though because they may become too weak. Just a few degrees makes a big improvement.
