I'm changing from Suzuki OE oil to Mobil 1 full Synthetic. When I bought it the guy told me to expect some leaks w/ the Synth. oil.

Is this true?

Or does he think I ride a Harley?

No that is false...back in the 70's when full synthetic came out it did
leak in the older cars that people tried it in...nowadays with the newer
technology there is no longer any problems with it.

Was going to use it regardless based on everyone's experience here with it, just curious if it was something to be expected.

I have been using it in my bikes for almost 4 years now...no leaks and it shifts much smoother

The theory behind synthetic oil causing your engine to leak is that it is slipier than regular oil and can find it's way thru any weak spots in you gaskets easier.

This is the year 2006 not 1970 , back when synthetic hit the market factories were using paper gaskets and they did tend to leak , nowdays gaskets are silicone or impregnated with silicone. Just like Busawizard said if it didnt leak before it wont leak now.
