Dyno the Bus San Jose

Hope everyone is having a good Holiday weekend,I took Wednesday off until next week Tuesday, anyways got sick on Wednesday until today,Saturday.Did my change of oil at 1901 miles and also cleaned the chain used WD-40 only and the oil was Golden Spectro blend 10/40.Went down to my friends shop and he said why don't we put the Bus on the dyno and see what she'll do,I went out side of the shop since my asthma was acting up and watched him as he cranked up the speed and he did a couple of runs and after the runs he turned around gave a big thumbs up and said something about 159.1 HP at 200mph,everyone in the shop said WHAT,so he made two copies of my run,one for me and one for his wall.Bone stock 1999 Hayabusa, new change of oil, chain cleaned and adjusted, run 159.1 at 200mph.Went to Road Rider which is a motorcycle store down the street to show off my dyno run and talked to the guys that do the tires and they said that they will carry the Hayabusa tires J series and the price is $128 plus $10 shipping so if you guys want another place to buy your tires try them and here's the address and phone number and the website. ROAD RIDER, 2897 Monterey Hwy. San Jose Ca.95111 Phone 408-227-6936 and website www.roadridermca.com . Anyways my bike was dynoed on a Dynojet model 150 dynamometer and I have the print out if anyone wants to see it.I do not have a scanner so I'll try to scan it at work and will e-mail anyone the dyno print. For information on the Chart the far left has a scale that starts at "0" ends at "175",this is the SAE corrected Horsepower reading and the far left starts at "0" and goes far right and ends at 200,this is the Miles per Hour reading. The "S"=4 and the PEP 4.76E,I'm not sure what all that stands for but I guess that people that use the Dynojet model 150 would know what those numbers mean.Anyways hope everyone have a good weekend and ride safe,Lots of cops out here in San Jose and on the Freeways so drive/ride safe.

Good to see those numbers for your Busa Cisco. Thanks for the tire info too.

Cisco--200 mph??
What gear did you run on the dyno. Accurate dyno numbers come from a 4th gear runs usually. This means you could maybe hit 160 mph.
Did you run through the gears and therefore have spikes from each shift?
Bob

Bob,my dyno run on the chart shows a start at 25mph,then the chart went up to 125hp@75mph,then a spike, second spike at 154hp@105mph,third spike 158hp@130mph,forth spike 157hp@155mph,fifth spike 159hp@176mph,sixth spike 155hp@197mph.These are all on the print out that I have. The horsepower goes in 25hp increments with each dot a 10hp increments. The Miles per Hour goes 25mph increments with each dots between a 5mph increments.Looking at the chart it looks like it drops off at 197mph and the highest peaks reached at third spike 158hp and fifth spike which looks like 160hp but my friend was on the computer looking at some readings. He did three runs going thur the gears and took the print out on the last run.He hit the 200mph run on the second run and he said the average of all three runs where the same. But to me it looks like the chart shows 196mph or 197mph at the drop off point of the last spike.Anyways he said he hit 200mph on the bike. The front tires were strapped into a V-shape tire bracket and the rear was strapped via the rear pegs, and the tester adjusted the bike so that the rear tire sat on the rear drum correctly and he mounted the bike and began the shifting.I thought my motor was going to blow up when he ran the bike and one of the other tech asked if my motor was broken in and I said that it had 1901 miles on the odmeter,I ask him why and he said he could tell that the bike is still being broken in cause of a little white smoke coming from the pipes.I wonder what that means!!!!!!Anyways I hope it helps you Bob,my friend owns Robs Cycle and is located at 265 Lewis Rd#6 San Jose California phone 408-227-1977.

I also did a couple runs through the gears and peaked at approx. 197 mph in sixth, but these are just for fun. You really need to run in 4th gear starting at about 1500-2000 rpm.
This provides a nice curve and peak with no spikes. The curve is just as important as the peak. Its how you get there. This is where you will see additional difference between stock and a piped/mapped bike.
The spikes are inflated numbers unless you try to average the peaks. When you shift depending on how smooth the rider is will always cause spikes from letting the clutch back out. This is felt at the drum. My through the gear runs averaged about 2-3 HP over my 4th gear pulls.
Regardless of if you averaged the spikes or not your stock bike is making great power.
Did you get torque numbers also?
Bob

I would give a motor that size 4,000 or 5,000 miles to be really broken in though. It will probably get faster as you ride it more.
