Cosmic Journey

The Florida State University (Tallahassee) has put up an interesting Java applet on their site. It begins as a view of the Milky Way Galaxy viewed from a distance of 10 million light years and then zooms toward Earth in powers of ten of distance. Ten million, to one million, to 100,000 light years and so on until it finally reaches a large Oak tree leaf. But that's not all. It then zooms into the leaf to the level of quarks viewed at 100 attometers. GO HERE

thats pretty kick ass....kinda gives you prospective of how small earth is compared to the solar system and then us compared to everything else.

it's mock, but hey who would know the difference? I say that because there are no real photos taken from beyond the milky way looking back at it. those first few must be hubble images taken looking out beyond the milky way? I dont think voyager is even beyond our solar system yet? purdy cool though....
