From "Rolling Stone" magazine:

Live 8 organizer Bob Geldof has lashed out at the Internet auction site eBay -- calling it an "electronic pimp" -- after pairs of tickets for the upcoming London event have been listed for as much as 10 million pounds ($18 million).

"I am sick with this, what eBay are doing is profiteering on the backs of the impoverished," reads a statement from Geldof on his Web site. "The people who are selling [tickets] are wretches. But far worse is the corporate culture which capitalizes on people's misery."

eBay responded to Geldof's criticism with a statement of their own: "The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under English law, and eBay believes it is a fundamental right for someone to be able to sell something that is theirs whether they paid for it or won it in a competition."

It's capitalism, but that doesn't mean it's not greedy. In this case I think that trying to profit from something that is trying to help a good cause is an example of the worst side of capitalism.

Don't blame capitalism for the the way greedy people have defined/exploited it. The idea of capitalism is to give everybody the chance to make their own way, by building their own business. It says nothing about taking advantage of anybody!

It depends on what side of the fence your on. Cr@p to a farmer is fertilizer, but to a city dweller it's just cr@p.

Money is NOT the root of all evil! For the love of money is the root of all evil. When you love money more than your friends, you've crossed the line of greed!

all I can say is if anyone bid on two tickets for that much money, there are entirely way to many dumba$$e$ out their with way to much friggin money, I wouldn't pay that much to sleep with Kathy Ireland and to me that would be the way to spend money
