Damn it! It almost happened again this morning. Here it is, I'm still healing from the first speeding ticket I've gotten on a bike on Monday and I almost get another one! I'm taking the bike to work this morning, getting more riding time in and I jump on the Southern State in Valley Stream. I see traffic's moving at a nice clip, I dip into traffic and move over to the left lane, then back to one of the middle lanes. As I come over the ridge in my tucked position. just getting ready to punch it, who do I see sitting facing me in a SUV at the end of the rest area? A NYS Trooper! Damn! As I approach, I see the wheels turn and the truck move towards the moving lanes of traffic. No need to run or think why he's coming out. I start to make my way towards the right shoulder and when I stop, he rushes up to me on the grass, rolls down the window, and says, "You have to slow down! Nice bike. Slow down!" I thank him, and ride away, using this as another warning. Close but no cigars. Whew!

I watched a county LEO whip a u-turn behind me on the way in this morning. Looked down and I'm doing 8 over. I'm thinking - "this is chicken s***". He came up on me hard, went around and pulled over a 25 year old Volvo that I had planned to pass.

No morning coffee needed today.

Anytime you come "over a ridge" is a great time to slow down... once you see whats on the other side... then go for it... getting on it in traffic aint cool though so, save the speed runs for the back roads less travled...
