Black 2009 Hayabusa - Under Rear Cowling - Do you need this part?

Question: Do I need the Under Rear Cowling for any particular reason? Mine is missing, should I replace it?

I suspect this, I had some work done on my bike from a shop a year or more ago and they did not put my Under Rear Cowling back on my bike. I never really notice. I had some work done by another shop today and they stated that the Under Rear Cowling is missing. I looked at a picture that I had in the last 4 months ago that I had of the bike. Sure enough I don't see the Under Rear Cowling in the photo. I actually think the bike looks better without it. However, I am not sure what other people think about this. Do you need the Under Rear Cowling? Is there people on here that have taken their cowling off and left it off? If I really need to have it, where is the best place for me to buy it and the best price?

You mean 27-3? The parts list doesn't go to #37 and most people refer to that part as the belly wing. No you do not need on your bike.

Personal preference, IMO. Unless you are doing some LSR, it is for looks.

For me it's about symmetry and I didn't like how one side the thing comes way back and on other it stopped short. Without it both sides are even. Which again for me is mostly a mental thing. Also without it you can see my super sexy black AlienHead much better.

But the Op should know that without that belly wing on the rectifier will be just hanging there on its bracket and visible. If you're going to remove belly wing you should consider doing this as well to clean up the bottom.
