I've been interested in one for a long time. Bagster offers a tank protector for the 06LE, but it's all white. I'm thinking about ordering the 08 and take the red stripe off and replace it with a grey one. think it'll work?

the 08 tank is different then?

I would imagine the 08 is different than earlier years however removing the stitching might leave a series of small holes in the tank protector. It would look "like it" was removed.

The 08 and 06 tanks are not the same. The changed the profile of the 08 tank to better allow riders to tuck under the windscreen. I am not sure how different they are but I do remeber that was one thing they really pumped during launch.

I seem to remember the '08 tanks are lower and slightly wider(?). Get an '06 cover and customize it via a good leather sew shop...:nervous:

If you are going with the tank bag can you get a white/silver color? If so it would look good IMO.
