During our ride yesterday, I parked the bike at the breakfast stop and tapped the shifter down one last time to put the bike into first. Didn't notice anything right off.

When I got off, I noticed my shifter had snapped off.

Dammit.

If you have one I can buy from ya, let me knwow and how much it'll cost.

Funny thing is, the rest of the day, I still got in a ton of GREAT twisty riding!

Pics to come up soon!

Mine did that.. easy fix...grind the spot off flat where it snapped off. Find a bolt about the same size at the original shifter shaft. Drill it the same diameter as the bolt. Make sure the bolt is a grade 8 and long enough. With bolt and two nuts and some rubber tube (gas line) you have a fixed shifter. Easy and strong and very cheap!

I have to aggree with max speed on this one, and you can use colored hose, when I had my blue bike I used blue hose, it looked better than stock...
I used an allen head bolt so it didnt look like a bolt in there, and I cut the blue hose a little longer and squashed it down a little so it was boubled out it looked better than stock.....
Anyway good luck

Grade 5 will work just fine...just don't use the standard Home Depot hardware

It just pissed me off when the shifter broke on me in the rain (weather man said going to be a nice day) about 50 miles from home. It was hell shifting like that and it was all stop and go, I hit every red light that day. Grade 8 is sure not to bust off in my book... and yes over kill.

Mine did the same thing that Max Speed's did... and yours also. And I made the same fix that Max Speed did. Nut and bolt and used the same rubber. Good as new. I rode like this for a couple years before getting a chrome shifter. I don't know, but I may have one somewhere. I will have to look for it though.
