I live in Springfield,mo and need a mentor on cornering. I have been a straight line rider for about 7 years and honastly am afraid of cornering. Need someone with ALOT of patiance as i am scared. Let me explain. Last year on Sept. 6, my FIRST time on a twisty road. I had my FIRST accident, and i havent got over it. Had a broken clavicle and had to have surgery. I now have a titanium plate in my left colorbone. So i think about it everytime i feel the shoulder. Since then i stay clear of all the fun roads my friends go on. I really want to learn. SO PLEASE HELP.

I'm 5 hours up 44 in STL. If you don't find someone closer, I'm sure I can arrange to spend a weekend in Springfield.

If I can I'd be willing to join BusaWhipped in making the trip and a weekend out of it and we could try and help you out the best we could.

You might want to consider attending a beginners track day school as well. Obviously the instructors there are trained on how to deal w/ specific situations and can ultimately give you the best advice.

Give GSXcite a call - his shop is sponsoring a Track Day at Heartland Park, Topeka on the 25th. $125 - great price!!! You'll be able to get some classroom instruction as well as coaching on the track.

I'm about the same as BusaWhipped but we could meet half way and ride around for a few hours. Winona is about 128mi. for you and 135 for me and I know some nice roads around there.

Fremo, go to Hallett and sign up for the HART class. It will help you a ton and you can ride at your own pace.

PM Tufbusa. He's got some leads on excellent VHS training/demos that would be a great help. But be patient and practice carefully. ATGATT! and with experienced riders as much as you can. You've got an excellent family of riders here that have eons of learning experience, all more than willing to share with you any way they can.

BW and Takeuon-Please keep me in the loop as my daughter and SIL live in Springfield. I'd try to make a weekend of it as I need some coachin' my ownself. Thank you brothers! :beerchug:

You might inquire about a MSF ERC course in your area. I teach them here. With the right instructor, I feel it would help you. We also do another course here that builds on those same skills. The ERC is $75 here and should give you a small insurance discount as well.

At your service Fremo man, I'm still about 20 minutes from you. Shoot me a PM anytime you want to go ride.
I can pretty much show/tell you whatever you need to know, then it's just seat time and practice from there.

Save your money and go to a school or a track day. Hitting the same corner over and over again in a controlled enviroment will really help.

Read Twist of the Wrist II, it may help you work things out in your head.

Good Luck!

A tank of gas will get you a good ride. Give me a yell, we'll take a trip down to Reuter and back on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
