I went riding with my wife and noticed the bike was getting hot quick. When I pulled over for a drink I seen the tach at 1500/1600 and that's where it idles. I have it normally set at 1k.

It won't go down unless I turn the bike off and back on. It only does this when I ride two up. I am 6' 230 and she is 5'5" 130. Weight is the only factor that I can think of.

No mods.16k miles and I synced the throttle about 3k miles ago.

Thanks guys!!

just guessing here but the engine is working harder to carry 2 bodies (vs one) as you already suspected.

Seems weird that the engine would adjust the rpms. Does yours adjust when you ride two up?

There are some vacuum tubes that go to a canister that sits in the rear right panel. The onl thing I can think of is perhaps they are being pinched or something when the rear seat is used.

That's the kind of things I was looking for. Thanks!

That was the first thing I checked, even set it and reset it. No go. If I turn the bike off, the rpms reset.

if the rpm's are rising when turning the bars my best guess is the throttle cable is too tight. As u turn the bars it puts more tension on the cable and raises the rpm's a bit.

I figured that.It only does it when I turn sharp in my driveway when backing into the garage.

Mine 05 did that a time or two on it's own but never happened again. Strange though.
