Addition by subtraction (or how to rationalize getting a new bike)

yeah, yeah, yeah...I know. Lots of explanations, but they all boil down to - life just got in the way the past few months.



R6 Store = Dan and Mike (00TXBusa) went to get supplies to change the oil on my V-Star when I had that. The Yamaha dealer had an R6 with the yellow w/ black flames limited edition paint. The guys were drooling over it a bit and Dan said what a good track bike it would make. So, Dan called me while I was shoe shopping at a going-out-of-business sale and I basically said if we can afford it and you like it, get it. Basically, he went to buy 4 quarts of oil and a filter, and ended up with a new bike.

Then I decided I wanted to ride the R6, so we sold my V-star, I got the R6 and Dan got the S1000.

I got a friend who has a house in Enosburg, where are you located? I used to ride there often but the roads are pretty poor with a lot of tar snakes.

Since I dont get a lot of time off, I go to the Carolina/gap instead where the roads are like glass...

I'm in Fairfax, about 30 miles away.

The roads are why I decided to go with the adventure bike. I do miss the roads in NC. TX has good roads too, the only problem is they are straight. Hopefully we'll be able to make the Fall Bash this year.

Dan I just turned 54 and thought shopping was going to a place asking the first employee I saw where the item I wanted was and buying that item and going home. I was so stupid. My wife has explained to me that shopping is going to the store and looking at every item in the store

I'm the same way and have been told that's "buying" not "shopping".

I think i'm going to order a GS1200 when we get back from the Bash in April.

The GS adventure looks reel purdy, but I missed the torque of the big inline 4. I rode the multistrada with ohlins electronic and I felt (for street use) it was a much more modern package. The seat position on the dualies is almost perfect but in my case i was lucky to get 2000 miles a year.

The GS proved to be a big waste of money for me , lol on a mileage basis. In the 2 years I had my busa , I have ridden almost as much as 4 years on my GS.
Enjoy the new ride , get out in the snow and use those knobbies like the Swedes....

Thanks! I've read that upwards of 68% of the roads in VT aren't paved and I have a 1/2 mile of dirt road to get to the 1/4 mile dirt road that we live on, so for the street you may are probably right but it's the off-road / dual purpose that drove the decision. And truthfully, even the paved roads leave a lot to be desired.

I've still got my '06 and don't see any scenario where there won't be a busa in the garage.

It's much easier on my knees than the 1200GT, has the Nav V, heated grips and cruise. No heated seats.
