BP. I see your new on this sight and noticed you seem to polite. You need to loosen up a bit if your gonna own a Busa. Start a good argument or something with some of the Kawi fans. Remember, your on a Busa now. You can say "look at the size of my **** ". Walk tall my friend. We'll all be on the same side of the battlefield this year with the arrival of the little girls bike (ZX-12).

I realize that my politness and sense of respect for those i talk to may seem panzy-ish. I assure i do NOT fit that category. You have to understand that I respect the majority of the people who post on this site greatly and, as a new poster, and as someone who owes a great deal to those who post here, i feel respect and politeness is appropriate. Post in a way that makes you comfortable. There is nothing wrong with being polite, or sincere. As far as bragging goes, it's been my experience that the loudest guys have the least to brag about. It's the quite guys who have the goods.

Look at Brock Davidson, his posts are short and to the point. Never bragging about any thing. A yet he's one of the real pros on this site that you can talk to. There are many more like him here.

Kong started out dishing it to guys, then realized that there was more to be gained by being sincere, and trying to share in what we all have in common, the love of big bad as.s bikes. His posts now are oriented towards contributing, and he's enjoying responses from guys like Brock Davidson, Frank Adams, Dirty Pete, etc. And he's still a die-hard Kawi guy! That's something I respect. And I think he's enjoying the site more too.

Going after guys for brand loyalty, give me a break. You'd be better off learning under water basket weaving. Plus, your not going to find anyone hear who owns a ZX-12 any way (yet). The guys who stir up that stuff will find you. You don't need to start a flame war to prove your worth.

Lastly, welcome to all the guys who just flooded in. I'm sure I insult one of you in the next couple of weeks, then you can go after me for some trivial point.

I have been reading the threads on hayabusa.org since before i purchased my bike in September. I just wanted to let you all know how sincerely greatful i am for your information and opinions. I cannot think of a better resource than a fellow rider. There is something to be said for real world experience as most bike mags tend to focus on track/nonreal world numbers and situations. Id much rather hear about comfort from a commuter who rides his/her busa to work everyday than a mag tester who rode it for the weekend. The wait to actually post on this site was excrutiating, but well worth it. I wish you all safe riding and a happy holidays.

BP you will not be sorry for buying the Hayabusa for commute to work or weekend use.I've haven't had any major problems with the bike except when I took it in for the recall work done on replacing the gas filter,the tech messed up putting my bike back together.I have 3,310 miles on my orginal tires and looks like I can go another 1000 before replacing the tire.Do yourself a favor and get a manuel to do most of your maintance work you would be surprise how much you will learn about your bike.Good Luck and Ride Safe.

I have about 3,300mi on my bike and put about 1,600 in one weekend to CA from AZ so I am well aware of the comfort of the bike. I have had the cam chain tensioner recall done, but my fuel filter recall is on back order according to my dealer. I plan on tricking out the busa with all sorts of fun and exciting Aftermarket parts, but in the mean time, just enjoying a bad *** bike.

Good posting BP. I, like yourself, find some of these postings to be invaluable. The tips and techniques of just the maintenance work being done to the bike puts years of experience at a persons fingertips. I do not regret purchasing my 'busa and when trouble occurs I am pretty sure that I can rely on past and future posting to provide some direction in correcting it. Later.

I'm with you BP, I read countless articles on the Busa b4 purchasing and was still none-the-wiser about the real world dynamics of the bike - ie comfort or wind protection, the mags focused on speed and speed alone - disappointing.

After collecting the bike I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort and the fact that your feet stay dry in a storm!

Haven't pinned it in 5th or 6th yet (weather's too bad) but hit the rev limiter in 4th two up in no time at all. (indicated 165)

The clutch is a hopeless grabby affair, with an inconsistent biting point - dangerous when trying to launch 160BHP hard, I'm quicker off the line on my R1 which shows how bad the Busa clutch is.

I've seen the ZX12 in the flesh and I don't like it (especially the star ship enterprise mirrors - they're hideous.) I reckon the 12 and Busa will be so close top end that we'll see conflicting reports over top speeds, the 12 (like all Kawasaki's) will have decent over-rev and slightly over tall gearing, so in perfect conditions (which'll see the Busa hitting the limiter) the 12 will win, but in a two way test the Busa will rule! (bit like ZX9 Vs R1)
Oh how I wish mags would go back to two way top speed tests, this "one-way with the wind in your favour" lark is just plain silly.

DM, I know what you mean about the grabby clutch. What I do is this: On a furious launch on 1st gear, quickyly up-shift to 3rd gear and engage the clutch, Avoid 2nd gear unless you are just cruising and looking cool.
