Air currents differ by altitude. When you go up or down wind changes direction. It might be blowing one direction on the ground but the higher you go up...might be traveling at a entirely different one.
My Father inlaw is a Balloon Pilot and every summer my wife and I go and "chase" my Father inlaw and help Setup the Balloon and after they land load it back up on the trailer.
Ya know,I've jumped out of a perfectly good airplane . I've gone over class 5 rapids . Hell my dumb ass even climbed the side of a 500ft mountain . But those things scare the poo out of me .
