I was thinking of buying one of the Bourbon tube style gauge sets on ebay. Not sure they are as good as a mercury manometer

The exhaust can mods were done a very long time ago. Never had a backfire problem until late last year. I guess it is possible I have some type of vacuum leak from doing the sync. I would have though it would run like crap and not idle if I left a hose off. The bike runs fine 99.99% of the time...
Backfiring is a recent problem. The exhaust has been modded for a very long time too. Plugs were replaced a few thousand miles before the backfiring problem popped up. I don't like the thought that so much fuel is getting into the pipes. It may only be one cylinder doing it.
I have owned the bike since new, seven years total. It has never had a backfire problem until recently. I am wondering if a leaking injector or some problem due to not being able to ride the bike as much could be causing the problem.
I don't want to mask a real issue by doing the pair valve mod. I have not modded the bike for a very long time. The backfiring is a recent issue. I don't get to put many miles on the Busa anymore. About a year ago I did a throttle body sync. I'm wondering what is causing a random backfire when...
2004 Busa, 12,000 miles, had it since new. Only mods are punching some holes in stock exhaust baffles and a larger rear sprocket. For the last year when slowing down for a stop, I occasionally get a very loud exhaust backfire. Once in a while the bike stalls. I'm wondering what could cause this...
Has happened to my 2005 bike many times when the outside temp goes up and I try to restart the bike after say 20 min of sitting after a ride. The engine detonates prematurely and kicks back on the starter. The impression is that the battery is bad. I will agree that a more powerful battery may...
I cannot say what other stores are doing. I guess it depends on how the stores are set up, IE Franchise versus a Corporate owned store.
The store near me said they are dropping Yuasa batteries and selling what they have left for 1/2 off. They are only going to sell some Generic brand called...
For those with a Cycle Gear store near by, you may be able to get a real Yuasa YTZ12S for 1/2 price if any are left in stock. Got mine for $62.
The YTZ12S is a 210 CCA battery versus 175 CCA for the the stock YT12A-BS and 230 CCA for the YTZ14S. The YTZ12S is the same size as the YTZ14S and is...
The ECU cannot jump into all these odd modes you are talking about.
The ECU requires the IAP and IAT sensors as well as the RPM to infer what the intake air density is. The atmospheric sensor is used to sense altitude. The IAP sensor is the dominant one used to both infer air density and...
I have not used any of those tools you mention although I am familiar with them. Other than simple vehicle repairs, my EFI knowledge is only from reading, not doing. I had a LS1 Vette for a while and was interested in using LS1 edit but the car pissed me off so much I got rid of it.
It was my...
The term "failsafe" can mean many things. Every company's EFI system is different. Ones in cars are more fault tolerant than ones in motorcycles. For cars, they all have to meet the "OBD" requirements. These Federal requirements mean all cars react the same when specific EFI failures occur.
All...
The performance expectations of bike owners is so much higher than car owners. Trying to meet the new super tight emissions regs is going to force the bike companies to do something radical or the bikes will be neutered.
First let me state I only have a rudimentary understading about EFI. I'm sure there are plenty on the board who could point out my mistakes.
The FZ1 and Busa use an older form of EFI called Speed Density, SD. The MAP sensor, Temp sensors and RPM are used to infer input air density. Any...
As far as I know, the recent Euro Busas are running an O2 sensor so they operate in closed loop mode during constant throttle conditions. They go open loop during warm up and during large or rapid throttle openings
I have 3 bikes, a 04 Busa, 05 VN2000 and an 06 FZ1. The VN2000 and FZ1 both have...
