I too use a throttle rocker, got it off e-bay for $13.00. Still getting used to it, gotta position it just right on the grip or else you get a BIG surprise when countersteering if you know what I mean! Did help a lot with the right hand going numb. :cool:

I'd go with the 2001 to avoid possible aluminum sub frame problems, there's no recall yet but there have been subframe failures on 1999 & 2000 models. 2001 and up have a steel subframe.
The sidestand mod Knebnr mentioned looks like the way to go. I know the feeling my 01 fell over and scratched/cracked the right side fairing, made me sick. My dealer quoted $554 for a new one!
I have a brand new 2001 it's at the dealer right now for the break-in (first service) $175 OUCH!!!! But I agree it is better to have the dealer go over the bike and do the first service/oil change. After this I will be doing future maintenance. Ride safe and enjoy!
It had been a couple of years since I rode when I got my Busa, I remember the same feelings. It was my first brand new bike. A little nervous at first, it can be an intimidating machine! You'll get used to it, and love it!!
I remember reading that when it came out in the magazine, Its disappointing that the "euro-weenies" dictate how fast U.S. production bikes can go (unmodified of course). What's next, bikes governed at the speed limit??
