Is a boost gauge really needed?

No guages on my daily ride for the last 3 years other than stock. I think for mild applications (up to 7psi) they are not really needed. When you're riding the boost is it really a good idea to have your head in the cockpit? Fixating on instruments can be just as dangerous on a bike. Just a...

To cool or not to cool..

Just get a generic oil core, use the same inlet/outlet from the engine, get some oil line and stick it in. Whats the issue? Its not rocket science. This has been in for 3 years with no probs.

    turbo

I have a '03 running a Garrett T28, under tank intercooler and 6psi for 235rwhp and 160ftlbs. It's been my daily ride for the last 3 years (sometimes my only vehicle) without any problems. Very linear power with no big hits. No issues at all. Cheers Ross

    intercooler or water injection ?

Shows what I know! Oh well, a good day is when you learn somthing new. I always thought with boost you would mist after the turbo. I can see the use for alcho to lower impeller erosion, plain water would be a bit rough on the compressor.

    intercooler or water injection ?

The system has been on for a few years now and I don't have the numbers on temp drops ect. During the tuning process the guys that built it recorded good figures on both temp inlet/outlet ratios and pressure drop across the cooler. Cooling was good during dozens of dyno runs with the tank up and...

    intercooler or water injection ?

I would go with the intercooler, no moving parts, switches, electronics, or tanks to fill. Cheers Ross

    Ok, Turbo spitting oil.....

Before you do PM Uncle Bob or the guys at 1320straightliners, they are a wealth of info, nice guys and have a lot more experience than me. I have only used BB turbos and would hate to see yours sieze if it requires more oil. Cheers Ross

    Ok, Turbo spitting oil.....

Just remembered, changed to a thinner oil (10w40) for winter and got a little oil in the compressor, went back to 20w50 and oil dried up. Cheers Ross

    Intercooler or Water/Alcohol Injection

Its a custom job by a comapny here in Australia called S&R Pro, http://www.sandrpro.com/. I'm not sure if they have made others like this or if it was a one off. Cheers Ross

    Ok, Turbo spitting oil.....

Had oil pooling in the compressor of my T28BB, my system sits a little low so I use an electric return pump. Fitted a non return valve in the feed line. None of this solved the problem until I fitted a 40thou restrictor in the oil feed line. Busa's run shell bearing cranks so the oil pressure...

    Intercooler or Water/Alcohol Injection

I like the intercooler. No topping up and it's working all the time. No radiator issues if it's under the tank. Ram air duct can supply airflow. Cheers Ross

What kind of fuel do you run?

I can't see any reason why leaded fuel would have any effect on injectors. The only injector issue I have ever read about is that some plastics and O rings will not like alcho blends above 10%. However leaded fuel will effect things with Platinum, like Platinum tipped plugs, cat converters and...

What kind of fuel do you run?

Australia: At the pumps Standard=93RON, Premium=98RON, Super Premium=100RON. Lead fuel only sold as Avgas, either 110 or 100LL Cheers Ross

    finally finished vr1gsx1300r

I had a quick connect installed on the elbow where the pipe exits the tank. Because it rotates, the fuel line never twists or kinks, plus it's easier if yiu want to remove the tank to get in there to play around. Cheers Ross

What kind of fuel do you run?

98 RON unleaded pump gas on 6psi intercooled. There is a 100 RON unleaded premium from Shell here at the pump but they get the extra octane with a 5% alco blend so I'm not really sure about this one. Never had a prob with the 98, every station in the country has it so it's not an issue...
