Gear shift lever pivot bush

Guys, Ive got a lot of play between my shift lever and the shaft it pivots on, is a new bush available or is it whole new lever and is there a specific way of setting the shift rod up?

The shift rod adjustment is only to change the shifter position, up or down to where it best fits Your foot.
If the jam nut comes loose it can cause a small amount of slack, but likely not an issue.
There will be a small amount of slack around the plastic bushing.
I've ridden over a dozen gen2's, and found several things that vary, the shifter play on that shaft being one of them(vast differences in stock seat foam density being another one easy to notice)
So a new or used bushing or assembly may or may not fix the problem.
I prefer aftermarket rear sets for adjustability anyway.

I sent a video to a fried who builds race bikes and he said ' both of the rod ends or knuckles must be at 90 degrees to the shaft, that way you get eve travel in either direction, by extending the shaft the angles are now wrong' so I dont know which is causing the problem, he a;lso said the lever pivot is badly worn ie the bush

I am not sure if you mean the gear shift rod / shaft outward from engine ? This is a gear shift rod brace for Gen 3 Busa , to help stop flex of that rod shaft , from Webike made by K-Factory . The bearing goes on the shaft , the other hole mounts direct to kickstand bracket by 1 of the M12 bolts . I bought it to try on the Gen 2 setup I run , but with my custom billet arm (for heim joint shift rod ) is too thick to allow room to fit this . The Gen 3 gear shift rod / shaft must be longer , and prone to some flex . My mate with the Gen 3 bought it off me today .

Theres a bush in the actual shift lever looks to be made of phosphor bronze, the post it sits on will logically be steel so the bush is sacrificial, ive circled it in the pic. If this bush is available ill get one or have one machined if not.

Suzuki probably sell as a replacement a complete new lever .

When I did my winter refresh a year or so ago, I replaced both the steel stud, had scuff marks around it and also the shift leaver. Was advised to use light machine oil on the bronze bush. The new stud and shift arm was super smooth after that - amazing difference. I pull it and clean it and re oil now with every oil change.

I did take it to a machine shop and ask if they could machine and press fit a roller bearing in the shift arm, but they said there wasn't enough metal and I risk splitting the arm to press fit the bearing.

As it is now, it's super smooth shift action - makes the quickshifter a breeze to bang through the gears.

Ive Havent looked at any yet so not sure what to go for but want to get the gearshift right before I spend loads of money and may still have a problem
Not sure these cheap ones will be any good, Ive had Gilles stuff before ad it was very good

Aftermarket rearsets will come with Everything you need, not just pegs and mounts, but brake lever, shifter and linkage too.
Depending on the brand, you can get a bearing mounted shifter like you wanted, instead of bushings.
All of them come with actual stock position, and the ability to move back and up in multiple positions.
Some of them can also adjust down.
I like Vortex and Gilles Tooling.

I was last running Gilles , everything you need is included , the quality is very good . The position at minimum setting is 10mm up , I think at 0 back from stock .
To give you an idea of what is out there , I use this link .

Had a new bronze bush made for £10 so will test bike weds when its dry again! If I can get fuel !!!

Then get some rearsets, and a brembo MC and pads and Ohlins shock and 330mm discs and quick shift !!!! Damn I need some £££££££

the (slide) bushing is pressed in in the shifter lever

2 chances to fix your play there
1. a new lever
2. press the old bushing out, get e new self made bushing with new inner dia, fitting to the bolt´s od, and press that in

BUT
before you start that act (above) test the lever´s play at a brand new bike with less than 5000 mi on its clock
BECAUSE
they all have (and need) a lill play to work easy

Yeah I just had a bush made and changed rod to what my friend said it should look like, bike now changes gear perfectly so Ill get some rearsets.
