Any time I buy a new bike one of the first things I do is tear it apart. One reason is to get a hang of performing all maintenance aspects, but also to see if anything has been added or hacked up.

Yesterday I picked up a very clean 2000 with 22k miles and the only obvious mod is a full Two Bros exhaust. After I got it home and started digging I noticed a few other gems. K&N air filter with the flapper removed and cut larger. No tuner tho, but that's on the way.

It also had some wiring that definitely wasn't OEM. Two extra 12 VDC feeds off the battery. One was for a trickle charger, and the other went up to a 12V digital gauge on the dash which I removed. During the wiring removal I noticed some extra relay looking thing that was spliced into the factory wiring. After digging and using the FSM wiring diagram it's some special little module that allows the use of LED turn signals (which I hadn't noticed) but they're all the way around.

While digging under the dash I also noticed more aftermarket wiring that fed LED headlights, high and low beam!

Now the best Easter egg of all. I expected to see an external fuel pump since this is a 2000 but it's internal! Per my other thread (with some help from @Berlin Germany) some previous owner swapped out the original tank with a paint matched 02+ tank with the internal pump.

It's not all roses tho. The foam around the ram air snorkels on the airbox is completely gone, the chain is looser than my ex, and the oil is so dark that light is having trouble escaping from it. Eh, can't win them all. Regardless I'm happy. I'll put some miles on it and then check the valves.

Nice, but before the extra miles, change the oil.

yepp and pls incl. the filter

and @Mattbastard

- change the fork oil incl seals (from allballs or so)
- pull the swing arm and grease all bearings new
- pull the shock link and grease all bearings new
- replace the original wheel bearings (by 2RS) front & rear , if still the originals, which are the max of crap.

several other "easter eggs" - from my view and outta my experiences strongly recommended to watch at

and
"a 12V digital gauge on the dash which I removed"
was no good idea, if you are as lazy as me (and lots others) because at some busas the loading volts are lots too high (14.9 V and higher) what may kill the battery.

HI. My 1999 also came with an internal fuel pump so I switch it back to an external.
