Should have asked what the open box buy (used value) would have been on the LED?

I did. They said open box price was going to be about $1600 since it had all the parts and no damage. I couldn't even get my wife to let loose for a $1200 TV let alone a $1600 one. I asked if they could let it go for $1100 and they said no but thanks for bringing it back, here's 10% back on the TV you paid for.

One guy was said they will wait until next week to even list is as an open box price. The TV is normally $2600 but is on sale this week only for $1800. Once it goes back to full price they can list this one around $2200.

That employee and Best Buy lucky it wasn't me. They have ripped me off twice, I would have had no problem letting them rip themselves off

I'm not sure this case applies, but generally speaking, if a company mails you something you didn't order, you can keep it - legally.

I just don't know if the definition of "order" applies since the TV wasn't mailed to him. He "ordered" a plasma and they gave him the wrong one..

Thanks but no. The chrome was the ONLY thing about that TV I didn't like. I have two little one at home and the finger prints would drive me nuts.

You should have kept it. When my kids were younger and we would go shopping and the cashiers couldn't do simple math and make correct change or for that matter even put in the correct price I would correct them.(almost never in my favor) My kids would ask why and I would tell them it was the right thing to do. Eventually I got tired of doing it and one day my son had saved up 250 and was buying a skate board, at 10 yrs old he could do the math in his head. The guy in the shop miscalculated in my kids favor by 75 bucks, my kid said the price is wrong. At that point I said screw it and take your discounted board. If he cant do simple math at 18 and a 10 yr old can they deserve the loss. Maybe if buddy who gave you the tv lost his job he wouldn't be so careless at his next job and the other current employees would have a greater sense of accountability.

The manager credited me back 10% off correct TV purchase. The best part is they said I saved the guy who loaded me ups job. They have him 48 hours to located the missing TV or he was going to get fired. There computer showed I picked my tv up and the LED one was just missing.

Far from it, Im just an older guy who has been there and has some perspective. Im also a guy who knows right from wrong after years of trial and error and alot of soul searching as well as learning from wiser and more experienced people than myself.

When a knock on the door comes at an umexpected time... The question isn't only... who is it?... its that potential for a reality check as the fickle balance factor of life rears its head.

October 20th of 2008 I found $304 on the sidewalk in front of Inland Chevrolet in Hemet California with no people within a 100 ft outside.. My job had been real slow and the money worked out real good for me at the time. In the following weeks I ran it up another $2300 at the casinos playing my favorite game. It even allowed me to take a trip to Vegas and watch some NHRA action.

Should I have walked into the dealership and asked around to see if somebody dropped some cash ? or asked if they had a lost and found ?

In my opinion Yes and after you made that money work for you so well yes x 2. At least tell them you found a sum of money a few weeks ago and do you know any one that lost some. That would at least clear your conscience and maybe help the person that lost the money. Im going off of what I would do in that situation based on my life experiences and influence from great people in my life. Your level of honesty may be different.

Yes, you should have gone into the dealership and asked for an approximate amount of cash that was found. I find this very interesting coming from some one that talked so much about how deep the rabbit hole goes when they don't even know where their own values lie in life.

I am proud to defend your freedom and views, even though I don't agree with them. That is the great thing about this country. You can post up and speak up about any thought you may have without any concern about what may happen to you. Not everyone has that luxury and I am thankful to the brothers and sisters in arms that have given you the ability to express your opinion.

Im not sure why you actually think that you have to be the pillar of honesty when it comes down to big stores as they have all the tax loopholes for this type of shaite…they will tax claim it at the end of the year as a bad sale…at least thats what my Jewish accountant friend has just told me and this guy is good,he can take sugar out of your cup of tea when it comes down to taxes and rebates.
