I think the rub for most is that he's a foreigner meddling in our affairs. A good debate is always good, but I've seen a few clips and he's pretty loose with the truth IMO.

At least my understanding is that he's not a US citizen.

Yeah, I can totally understand that. People say stupid and crazy stuff all the time though, dont know why this guy should be any different. The more attention we give these people, the more important their words become, in my opinion.

Personally I wasn't in the slightest offended about any of the remarks he made, people are feel say whatever they want for the most part. That said I'm equally unoffended that here and there he manages to get himself punched in the mouth over some of what he says/does; comes with the territory I suppose.
This made me chuckle so I figured I'd share, if nothing else hopefully someone else got a laugh. This didn't have anything to do with recent actions:

I have never watched any of his shows.. The fact of the matter is that English people tell it like it is without needing to be sensitive to American's requirement that everything be sugar coated and dusted in powdered cocoa.. I think he could be good in the long run and stirring controversy is precisely why the bloke has the bloody job mate... Oh my... My pubspeech hooligan is coming out.

im a advocate for free speech also....piers is allowed to say OW OW THAT HURTS , STOP, YOUR HURTING ME,...as many times as he wants...NO PROBLEM... lol

I find him rude and just a prick in general. Hey we are all entitled to our opinions etc.... But being rude and disrepectful as a host, while the guest is trying to explain there point of view or answer a question. I feel he deserves a guest to knock him on his rear. I dont watch his show or care for him, the few clips I have watched of him though, he is just a plain asshat and a reason I dont care for his program. Back to Top Gear on BBC 2 mates!

whats funny is after a week in the UK there's been nothing about Piers on the news. Not a peep. the douche is in the US, we can presume legally with the proper work permits but IMHO he should stay out of our politics and policy. The UK has their own issues, violent ones to boot that perhaps he should focus his efforts on. Unless of course he wants to renounce his British citizenship and start the process to become a legal US citizen he's just hot air and until then I just ignore him. In the mean time there's far more Jeremy Clarkson on the television and in the papers here so clearly what Piers has to say isnt worth much in London either
