I am currently living in Kuwait due to my job. I will be coming home in July, while I'm home I am going change my exhaust to a Yoshi R77 4-2-1. I am taking it to Johnny Cheese to get it tuned. I am going to ride it for about two weeks then prepare to ship it back out here to kuwait. My question is...

How much does the elevation and climate effect tuning. Will the bike still perform the same if I have it tuned in Texas but then brought to Kuwait to ride.

Downtown Houston stands about 50 feet (15 m) above sea level and the highest point in far northwest Houston is about 125 feet (38 m) in elevation.

The lowest point in Kuwait is obviously 0 and the highest being around 1000 feet (306 m), but I think that is out on one of its islands.

Weather is roughly the same as houston except for the sand.

For those who don't know I ride the Fastest 2011 model:laugh: If that makes a difference....

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom...

Edit: I am going to go with the ECU editor as well and have him do his thing with the restriction and such...

I am pretty sure Johnny himself will have an answer for you. Best of luck.
P.S. My uneducated guess is the ECU will be able to "compensate" for the elevation difference.

I would think its fine since it's controlled by the ECU but what the hell do I know............ (nothing by the way). Let me know when you make it back to Houston so we can hook up for a ride. Im on the NW side off of 290.

IAP Intake Air Pressure sensor and ECM manage this well. If you need me to I'll take care of your bike while you're in Kuwait.

Agreed. The ECU manages this. With carb systems you would have to tune through use of different sized jets primarily and basically target the main elevation you be in most of the time. As you changed elevation the performance suffered. With fuel injection managed by the ECU the amount of fuel can be adjusted for things such as elevation and temperature.

In other words ... don't worry about the elevation changes.

agreed this is the joys of fuel injection it will compensate for you, only difference you will see is if you put it on a dyno over there your hp and tq numbers will be different because of air temp etc. Same as here just like here going from place to place and day to day your numbers will vary thats why there is a correction factor.
