This is a good example; if true, of how the government typically works. You can get all upset at Haliburton, but the truth of the matter is that your government works this way.

They need to stay out of the private sector. That includes healthcare.

I worked under government contracts for many years. It is typically very wasteful.

Sad, yes. Unusual, no.

Hey, It's the Government. Aren't we ALL supposed to try to screw it out of $$$$?? What was it JFK said? Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you? Something like that, I think. :dunno:

Sad but true...and there is nothing that will be done about this. Words will be spoken, anger will abound, troops will come home ill, investigations will happen, fingers pointed...but in the end....nothing. This is why I keep both our troops and our country in my prayers every night.

Having been to Iraq 3 times for a total of 3 years. I can say I have seen this first hand. During the first year in Iraq, from 2003-2004, my platoon was drinking water out of the local tap, because it was either that or dehydrate. This is why there needs to be some sort of oversight on what the government spends in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Instead of letting "Uncle Sam" write a blank check. Look at the State Department contractors in Afghanistan, partying like rock stars, I think money should have, and could have been spent wiser during these conflicts.

so I was thinking about this video all night!

2times in Iraq!

1st time.... not a single shower in sight! we took bird bath in drums that came with our vehicles! drinking water came from "water bulls" treated by Marines!

2nd time: not once did WE drink water that wasn't in a bottle! our shower water WAS trucked in! and everyone knew that it wasn't treated water! SO everyone knew NOT to drink it!

I had spent time in 4different bases with KBR chowhalls! and those crazy long line were ONLY on fridays when the cook lobster tail and steak! every other day lines moved fast an the food was ok... for being in IRAQ.. I'm it wasn't coming out of a brown plastic bag(mre) or boiled trays(tray rations)!!

as far as how they chargeing MORE money for things: I'm a mech I've ordered tools for years... I've seen 1/2in dr knock off rachets get purchesd for 45bucks.. when we can go to sears and pick up one just as good if not better for 23+tax.. THAT is never gonna change!!

but how they dipict KBR providing for US(troops) I don't agree with!!

There IS oversite, a government contracting officer and program manager are assigned to every contract. They are the ones that are entrusted to make sure contractors are living up to the terms of their contract.

So nobody sees that the privatizing of things the military used to do for themselves is bad? Somehow, even when Halliburton, KBR and other private companies perform atrocities (including killing our soldiers through electrcution in the showers) we must still blame the US Government? The last I checked, the United States Marine Corps IS THE US Government.
This US Govt. hatred does nothing but show close mindedness because you think the "wrong" political party is currently in office. If we can't work together to solve problems then we sadly will get what we deserve....greedy people that exploit our fighting forces.
I've been a Marine, a Coast Guardian, a Harbor Patrolman, a police officer and an educator. I've seen brave and sacrificing "government employees" go way beyond their job description to keep some service functioning, in some cases, to save lives.
Government employees are a part of our great middle class and few speak to that. If we quantify greed and evil in our society, we find it's alive and well at the top of the economic food chain and predominately in the private sector.
100% unregulated capitalism is the farthest thing from a true Democracy.

That is just outragous!! It is disgusting to see an american company treat our troops like that when those troops are over there fighting to give the the freedom to that company to do business. They should lose their contract and be fined very heavily.

Again, there was a Government Contract officer in charge of every contract that should have been holding the contractor to task.

Also many contractors sit side by side government employees everyday supporting the guys in uniform.

Isn't regulating capitalis the same as socialism?
