Winter Project-Advise Needed

Hi all,

It has been a long cold winter here in Ontario already and we're only half way through until spring!!
I did have the Busa out for a very short ride a couple of weekends ago during a rare winter that that had us in temps of 15C!! Scratching the itch I haven't been able to reach since Novemember.

One of my winter projects this year is to prepare the Busa for my Iron Butt ride this summer and I would like to add a power outlet under the seat so I can plug in the GPS or maybe a heated jacket liner during the all night riding I will be doing. The outlet is a simple one that wires into the battery or ignition and is the same as a cigarette lighter.

I need to know if the stock Busa charging system will handle one or two of these running the GPS or ipod on a constant basis and a heated liner for a few hours on the road?

Has anyone else added these to your Busa with success?

Thanks for any advise you guys can offer.

You can go right of the battery just make sure you have a fuse close to the battery,or use the plug up in the upper thats was for the euro light they never did put on..black 2 prong, you might reach it with the black undernose piece out..

dont know about the draw from the heated liner but no problem with the other stuff added, just dont leave it on if the bike is off!!

That was quick! Thanks for the link. This is what I've been looking for, a nice professional installation. No Mickey Mouse hack jobs on my girl.

I bought a dual cig lighter outlet and a switch connected directly to the battery. Works perfect and is well out of the way. I use it for the Sirius radio and GPS. I will take some pics tomorrow. about 12 bucks for parts.

I run a GPS, Escort radar detector and a heated vest (hey it gets cold at night in SOCAL!

), all off the battery with the appropriate fuses in place. No problems.

Thanks for all of the information guys. I'm definately going to pick up a heated vest for the Iron Butt ride this summer. Just the details I needed to make an educated decision.
