Why your one vote doesn't REALLY count

step away from the glue bottle... (don't take it personal)

Your vote does indeed count. If your vote did not count, why does both parties have folks out knocking on doors during every presidential ellection.

Unless you want your country to become a Socialist enviroment such as Russia and China, VOTE! It's your ONLY voice in government.

I did vote ONCE a few years back.... then I got called for JURY DUTY about 4 times since. I'm the LAST GUY you want on any jury. Never again.
OMG, you and I would get along just great. That is another thing I have never done. I throw it in the trash!
Just for the fact that they threaten to put me and jail and a 2K fine, i dont go!
Justice system is joke just like the gobment.

And I do have a right to complain. I'm taking it up da bum just like you, only difference is that I'm smart enough to realize that your dumb vote aint ever gunna make a difference! The system is meant to be corrupt! Dont you dumb asses get it?:moon:

Never have gotten one of those invites, now I know why.

HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, the last few invites... um.... well, I never "recieved" them. Must have been a glitch in the postal system, near as I can tell. :) Jury Duty ought to be a CHOICE not some communistic requirement. I don't want a bunch of people there that are mad about it. That would suck. But they only started AFTER I voted ONCE, 8 years ago or whenever it was.

Seems to me we left England and founded America [after kicking the Indians out] because the government were being dorks and over taxing. Now that is happening here. Did history teach us nothing? Or has it been rewritten already? Did I miss the memo?

Exactly! Like I'm supposed to put my day on hold and not make "real money" at my job of 23 yrs. cause some dumb spick stole an ol lady's pocketbook and his "court appointed lawyer" (that you and I pay for) is gunna waste my time of hearing his lies about how Mr. welfare, drug dealing duchebag client is innocent?

Gimme a fukkin break... dont get me going here... I came from nothing growing up! I hadda earn everything I got now! Take that biotch out back and shoot him too...

I don't think there has been a case where the candidate with the popular vote didn't win the election anyway. (Seems to me I remember hearing about one case but I'm not sure).

George W. Bush?

For what it's worth congress is attempting a bill that will disband the electoral congress. In all honesty, we are a democratic republic. Not a strict democracy, and that little stipulation has been the forerunner for us being seduced by the government for the past 200+ years.
No, your vote doesn't mean Sh!t.
Will I still vote? You bet. It shows support for my candidate (Barrack). IMO it's a lot like music, yeah, you could download (read-not vote) but if you support (read-buy the cd) it makes it so much sweeter.

Oh well, my $.02

This is a Federal Republic Democracy. And your vote does count. In all but two states one vote can determine how all the electors vote. Maine and Nebraska are the only exceptions. Yes an elector can vote any way he or she chooses but that would be political suicide and this may have happened a hand full of times in the history of this country. The popular vote does not matter. Gore won the popular vote in 2000 and lost the election. Warren G Harding won over 60% of the popular vote (one of the largest margins of victory ever if not the largest) in 1920 and was one of the worst presidents ever. I believe voting locally is very important and the electoral college could use some tweaking. But this is a big deal and could end up worse than it is now. The popular vote is not the answer. I really don't like the two party system but a dominant third party would result in more ties leaving the election of the president up to the House (one vote per state) and the vp up to the senate. This would not be good.
If I was to associate with any party it would be libertarian but I dont so I guess I'm independent.

How does it count when the Electrol College negates it? If it or they can and do vote against the PEOPLE's popular vote, the whole process is tragically flawed and not REALLY working for "The People"

Common sence tell you that the whole system is a scam. Common sence tells you that the gobment is corrupt, so why would when there is an election anyway, that they would be truthful and honest with the people?

Oklahoma. 7 electoral votes. Lets say the population is 100 people. 51 vote republican and 49 vote dem. All 7 votes go republican and vise versa. Every state is like this except for Maine and Neb.. Electors never vote against their state's popular vote.

The system is jacked up but put some thought into and try 2 come up with some realistic solution and you will find it is very complicated. The framers did a pretty damn good job
