I mean what was up with all of the fins and rockets and gills and chrome and crap.
1958 ElDorado and the world record fins? I mean cum'on?
What does that say about Americans in the 1950's?
Where they a bunch of hype buying Zombies?
Was it all a bunch of Marketing Hype?
Was it just to be different than the Brits and Germans?

Zora Arkus Duntov now that is one man that I'd stand applaud and bow to if he was still around....

Well you know its all in the name of humor but indeed, it all got a little out of control. Everytime I see one of those shows talking about the jet and space age's influences on that day's automotive design I get a bit uneasy. I would love to knock the fins off an old El Dorado with a sledgehammer then run it through a huge band saw to slice some length off of it. Then I'd run it up to speed and sideswipe the guardrails on a straight highway to see what improvements that has on the lines of the body.
