I've seen the Bagster set up and it looks cool for a bag set-up, but I don't understand the need for the whole tank to be wrapped up and hidden. I've ridden with my magnetic bag (Rapid Transit Recon 19 - see below) for a couple years with heavy items packed in there and it's never moved an inch. Why would someone hide the paint job of their tank, especially when it's the only area of the bike that has a solid paint job to it, unlike the plastics.
"Let me wrap a bra over my tank it to protect it but so you can't see the tank"
If you ever get in a wreck you may as well replace it with an unpainted stainless steel tank since you won't see it anyway.
I second this one, had mine over a year now and literally "don't leave home without it"! Just TOO spoiled with having a can of Plexus, clean cotton cloths to clean visor at each stop, EXTRA visor (taking zero room because it lines the inside of the bag), tire pressure gauge (big mother), two bottles of spring water, extra shirt (depending on season), ball cap (to protect my dome when the helmet is off), pair of rubber gloves, small emergency flashlight (LED, steady beam, flashing, or SOS morse code).
THEN I decide if I need to take anything extra, because there is still room for stuff in there! Digital camera, or camcorder, or jacket liner, etc.
Oh, and you CAN tuck because of the tapered shape-as a matter of fact, I've heard of guys putting soft stuff on top and laying on it for long rides to reduce wind drag and relax the lower back...
"TUCK" with a TANK BAG
?....now who in the heck wants to do that
??......
I have the Bagster, and the thing about wrapping the tank is about comfort, refinement, styling, and being able to "Clip-On, and GO".........it's also about a look maybe you're not looking for.
I come out of work, or the movie theater, or the Union Hall, or Church (yes, I go), or where ever and it's a loop and click away from pulling away. No getting it centered, and then "carefully" letting the magnetic flaps down. It's not about getting the bag on, and finding the strap down on the seat, and the one around around the yoke, and clipping the thing on. Can you tell, I've owned all three styles
.
It's about convenience, "click-click and the Spudley's gone-gone". Got so used to it, it's become my "Man-purse", i.e. sunglasses case, cell phone, digital camera, small plexus, spare glasses, smokes, maps, baclava, visor carrier, brush, condoms, (hang on I'm looking through it), personal lubricant, viagra, and more condoms, heck I carry a lot of stuff and I still got "a ton" of room for more, UnderArmour tops and bottoms, fleece, you get the idea.
Now the whole, "How do I tuck thing
"......I was out of bounds on a ride yesterday scoping out roads specifically designed for Nevada Hayabusa-Owners-Group use, you know the smooth, well maintained, no-traffic, see-for-miles-down-the-road roads...and I found a "mother" of a route. Well....got to test it out, RIGHT
?.... so I hit it hard to see if my new gear position sensor that Greg made me worked.......IT WORKED....I ran out of marks on the speedo SEVERAL times....face in the windscreen, throttle wide open, needle climbing beyond the number, floating along in low-earth-orbit, actually hit the rev limiter once or twice (In sixth gear, THAT IS A TRIP...and not once did I wonder if the bag was coming off, if I was getting maximum aerodynamics, or if I brought enough stuff for the night ride back....it was a "Heaven" ride and there I was.........enough said, love my Bagster, here's a pic, yada, yada, yada.....
Man, rev limiter in sixth, no restriction, I LIKED IT !!!!...and I'm probably going to do it again.......:29
....very, VERY soon....
