After a few years of absence it felt really good to be back for a few laps in "the green hell"

Must have been a workout hustling that big brute around the track...I've watched several videos of people on liter bikes working hard out there trying to keep ahead of the cars.

NOT only.. Rise it 30mm in the rear, respring&valve front forks.. Give it a 190/55 rear and a decent rear shock and its ready to go.
.............I was being facetious hence the "LOL" icon....

My bike is well set up for cornering with upgraded suspension....the only thing restraining my cornering prowess are the crappy roads around here.

gents?

The production motorcycle record from 1993

Helmut Dae(ä)hne holds the record for production motorcycles on the 20.8-kilometre-long Nürburgring-Nordschleife:
On May 22, 1993, the racing driver lapped the Nordschleife on a Honda RC30 in 7:49.71 minutes.
For the time being, nobody should be able to beat this time.

That was 30 years ago, that record would be shattered today

...no way an early 90's Honda RC30 can touch the bikes of today.

I just looked it up and the bikes of today aren't that much faster it seems...

From the 'Web'

"The current Nurburgring bike lap record is 7:10.89 set on a Yamaha YZF R1, ridden by Andy Carlile in 2012. This was a bridge to gantry (BTG) lap time, and hasn't been broken for over 10 years. Mar 24, 2023"

I'm certain a modern bike in the hands of a competent road racer who was familiar with the 'ring' would/should go much faster....
