It is not that difficult. The ignition pickup rotor has a different number of notches on it and will need to be swapped from the old motor. Maybe the fuel rail. Seems like there is another minor difference when swapping. Just keep your old one until your are done so you'll have everything you need. There is no need to change to the late ECU but it can be done. Requires quite a bit more work.
I guess it depends on the State. Oklahoma does not record them. Good idea to check. Make sure you keep documentation..bill of sale etc to protect yourself later.
