Is there actually a difference when changing the air filters? I did on my '06 R1 and according to the local dyno I used all the time (i've moved since then), it didn't add any power.

I have been told by a number of people that KN is good for the car and increases gas mileage a little bit but for the "hyperbikes" with forced air all the dirt ends up in the engine. Not to mention all that oil. For 1 to 2 hp I will go stock and replace it when the book says too.

From personal experience on a completely different vehicle:

The best performing air filter for a GM LSx series motors?

The Fram paper filter.
+$50 buys a whole lotta Fram paper filters...

Never drank the K&N Kool-Aid in the first place, and when the dyno numbers showed up on the LSx's showing that is was worthless power-wise, I never looked back. That and the fact that it lets more crap through clinched the deal.
