Go for the 848. I owned a Duc, but Fast by Ferracci (who won two WSBK titles and two AMA titles for Ducati)is only 45 minutes away, so service wasn't an issue.

The MV is a great bike as well, and FbF has two F4's for under $18K, and two demos for under $16K.
