What version of Android are you running? That is the first question. The answer will give the path that you need to take to root it. If you are running the OTA version of Gingerbread 2.3.3 then you are out of luck(sort of). If you are running Froyo 2.2.1 then you can use z4root or gingerbreak. Now if you want rooted Gingerbread then you have to sbf your phone back to Froyo then flash a 2 part update that will take you to Gingerbread that is rooted. As of now that is the only way to do it.
