Car Fax Report

I'm assuming car fax basically get its information from auto dealer service records. If so, hopefully I can contact Toyota service dept with the vehicle ID number and have them give me the 411 on a used 2007 Prius.

If I'm incorrect, does anyone has access to Car Fax to pull a vehicle history for me?

When we last used it, Mike was interested in the Mustang that he now has...CARFAX requests that buyers also submit info on the vehicle once they purchase it, noting anything that wasn't correct with the initial CARFAX report like mileage or the overall condition of the vehicle. Basically, what they have is what a dealer provides and if I'm correct, what police records show on that same VIN if it's been in an accident. What they hope to provide is also info from owners of said vehicle, but I kind of doubt many participate...

I believe it cost us less than $15 to get a month's worth of access to CARFAX; money well spent if you're shopping around
