When To Ride The Dragon

Wondering if someone could tell me the earliest time of the year to ride the Dragon, and have a good chance of encountering decent weather. Thanks!

The weather here in these mountains is so unpredictable. I have ridded the Gap in Feb before. Coming from FL, I would not plan a trip till at least April....come to think about it, we have one planned for April 15-17th. More info can be found


If you cant make the trip, let me know when you will be around. I am about 75 min away.

Guess the Busa Bash III is the weekend of April 15. Gonna have to take my chances, I am not going to miss it.

If you plan a trip on the weekend, run the Gap early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the time exploring the surrounding the other roads in the area.

I and friends are headed to the Dragon June 18th. April is just too iffy weather wise.

The ADVANTAGE of riding on the weekend is that the road is swept, yes with brooms, yes by hand, yes by enthusiasts. AND commercial traffic is a bit lighter.
