Why is the Suzuki Hayabusa a GSX1300R instead of following suit with the Suzuki Standard GSXR####?

The Hayabusa is not a GSXR(race bike), it is a continuation of the Katana GSX(sport touring) series.

OH MY, The Hayabusa is not a race bike?....try telling that to the NHRA...

All I know is I am glad its insured as a Sport Touring Bike

I am a little saddened that the Hayabusa is compared to the Kanatuna though...
