I'm headed for Colorado tomorrow. This is really the first time I've taken off without a specific day to return home. Take it as it comes. I've had this trip plotted out for 3 years. It's finally time. When I planned the trip, I had a more conventional ST bike. We'll see how the big Suzuki handles the chore.

The core of the ride is Cortez to Craig, crossing the Great Divide several times. There are a handful of passes over 10000 feet... Wolf Creek Pass, Spring Creek Pass, Slumgullion Pass, Monarch Pass, and the big daddy: Independence Pass at 12093 feet.

The plan is to go south from Boise through Nevada, across Utah highway 12, Four Corners, up the divide, and home through Wyoming and Central Idaho. I thought about taking an extra day for northern New Mexico. Never been there.

Someone posted about getting 64 mpg at 5000 feet. I should get twice that at 10000 feet

Any thoughts on "must ride" roads or "must avoid roads"?

Enjoy the ride, 64 M.P.G. I'd say you're running lean brother, but I better not
