Running without IAT sensor?

After I did some work on my intake system I forgot to plug in my IAT sensor to the air box.
Does that mean that it is bad for the engine if you run without it or is it ok for a shorter ride?

That would trigger the safe mode more than likely, & FI lite. Intake Air Temp. sensor controls air/fuel ratio- I don't think it would be good to run it hard though. I wouldn't think it would start???
